½ of the movie: competitions, training, etc. (This includes pre-routine banter, freaking out, good luck speeches and hugs; in that order).
¼ of the movie: bonding time, dinner, gay, relationship development. Basically anything that doesn’t happen at the arena.
¼ of the movie: The wedding ceremony. Because during the aforementioned ‘bonding time’ Viktor’ll be like: “dont worry Yuuri, we’ll get married whether or not yoi win gold, just skate your best!” And they’ll skate their hearts out, Yuuri will get gold and Viktor will come second.
So they’ll get married, thus the rest of the movie is all about how gay and in love they are.

The scene in question is at the GPF kiss and cry; Victor and Yuuri have just received the scores for the SP. And, honestly, I love Victor’s expression.
He first looks over to observe Yuuri and his reaction to his scores. Determine if more comfort is needed, essentially. He’s worried. However, when he actually sees Yuuri’s expression, he does this:
Victor smiles. He smiles! It went by a bit too quickly for me the first couple viewings, but after seeing a loop, Victor just looks proud. Reinvigorated, too. I love it.
Victor sees Yuuri’s determination, his focus, his eyes. He knows Yuuri is gearing up to work harder and come back from this. Victor is so damn proud to be by Yuuri’s side. He knows when Yuuri is searching for something, and when he starts looking, when he starts working for it, he can’t be stopped. Victor is content to just stay by his side and say nothing–offer only support and respect, comfort or space when needed. He loves and supports and draws strength from Yuuri so much, and I just can’t get over it.
Exactly.
Viktor doesn’t see a man who’s been defeated, or one who’s even considering defeat as an option. For the first time, Yuri has a goal beyond the gold, and he’s not going to anything–even himself and his own insecurities–stop him.
I think this also reaffirms to Viktor that Yuri’s a changed man. It’s subtle (and I agree, a bit too quick as so many of their moments are), but truly a beautiful moment of character growth and the understanding that’s grown between them.
